Stuck in Abeyancy
sleepless dreaming
my default is Nival
The sky opens and drinks away
all my energy
legs in an upended pedal
Wishing i could be free
Like the bluebird
Unbounded to her tableau
Listen
it's time to break silence
to disarm your violence
the killer is you
as i wash away through
lies that you said
at the end of your grace
plans that you've hidden
by the love i was bleeding
whatever i've taught you
whatever i've learned
i know there's so much not a lot of concern
i feel like a ghost when i walk through this city
your meanings are less than the words that you're stealing
i guess that i'll vanish
when this will be over
i'm sick of imbalance
i’d rather get smaller
i gave up to a glare
and what is left?
you are the one
to forgive and forget
about
SINTESI is the debut solo album of Alessandro Baris with the collaboration of vocalists Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth, Lisa Papineau and Emma Nolde.
The album is a new point of departure from Alessandro previous works with other projects and collaborations, in Italy and abroad.
Not a renovation but a continuous research through an endless process of deconstruction and construction of his music language.
LEE RANALDO
"The initial text for Last Letter to Jayne was written in the early dark days of the pandemic, The poem came as a sort of memorial to a relationship with a fixed ending. Some time later Alessandro approached me about working together on a collaborative song. When I heard the somber, majestic music I thought that I could adapt the poem to fit, and also challenge myself to be experimental with my vocals in a way that was quite new for me - using overlapping voices and phrases to create an instability between the foreground and the background, a '3- dimensional' evocation of an emotional state"
EMMA NOLDE
During quarantine of April 2020, when Alessandro asked me to collaborate on his song “Embers”, I was experiencing apocalyptic feelings. Sometimes we tend to exaggerate our feelings especially in moments like that when you're forced to think a lot. Right before lock down I had the luck to meet a person who changed me very deeply and I was very afraid to lose that link because of the forced distance. The music of Alessandro changed my point of view, showing me the beauty. It had such a strong impact on me -“At least I found someone before the end...” - I wrote that to say how grateful I am to have experienced such a beautiful thing that could have ended remaining as it was. As usual music fix your mood and change your perception of things, especially when it touches you so much.
LISA PAPINEAU
"you can't cry 'cause you'll look broke down, but you're cryin' anyway 'cause you're all broke down said sly stone. I wrote te lyrics for Nival inspired by this line from Sly Stone. The tenderness of everything falling apart ... what is still burning even when you are buried deep."

My god, what an absolutely incredible Suite. I'll admit, I've struggled to get into Pharoah Sanders due to diving headfirst into some of his most challenging catalogue and that never worked. This is the perfect place to restart. Floating Points is new for me and I can honestly say I've never heard synthesizer music this lush and organic before. the LSO is just perfect. This is one of those albums that any serious music fan needs in their life. The perfect swan song for the great Pharaoh! 5/5 ClassyMusicSnob
